Calderdale Royal Hospital PFI
Calderdale Royal was one of the country's first PFI hospitals, opening its doors in 2001. It occupies the site of the
existing Halifax General Hospital, cost £76m and has 450 beds. A&E designed a new cook chill system and meal delivery
infrastructure to replace the existing conventional production method. In addition, the brief included a new staff/visitor
restaurant. A&E carried out a full option appraisal and scoping exercise, working closely with Bovis Lend Lease and architects
RTKL to deliver the scheme.
